Problem #2 - It seems reaching that high of a rank doesn’t seem to be much of an issue. Problem #1 - So apparently the anime’s gonna place a lot of emphasis and focus of Goh catching a bunch of random mons without much issue while leaving Ash’s own goal development off-screen? Normally, I don’t 100% agree with the argument where people claim Goh receives too much screen time compared to Ash and Chloe, but it’s honestly stuff like this that kinda make me see their point. And already I have a few problems with this. In the beginning, we learn that Ash has apparently battled a bunch of randoe trainers off-screen to the point of reaching 415 in his rank.

Next week’s episode lookin’ to be interesting, especially since the series is so bad at hiding spoilers, many of us already know what’s gonna happen! I mean, who isn’t used to is by now? pokemon pokemon journeys anipoke pokeani ash ketchum pikachu gengar lucario goh grookey volkner luxray electivire rotom fan rotom sinnoh Great battle with just a few odd spots here and there. alsoBeaisstillagarbagecharacterintheanime And a cameo of Flint would’ve been nice too since this is Volkner we’re talking about, but eh whatever.Īlso, is this episode implying Ash will someday CANONICALLY challenge trainers like Cynthia and Lance? That’s… interesting. Diversify things with something like Extremespeed or Bone Rush already! There were also times where I feel characters just stood still, pretty much waiting for an attack to hit them, so a little boost on the fight’s speed could’ve helped. Aura Sphere and Double Team are fine, but Force Palm and Reversal, while having different effects, are pretty much generally the same thing: one big punch. Cause let’s be honest, his current moveset is garbage.

I also feel this would’ve been a good episode for Lucario to learn a new move, replacing either Force Palm or Reversal in the process. Yeah, he does manage to land in some solid hits, but this is just pathetic at this point. Once again, Gengar jobs without getting a single win. So yeah, expect a post talking about that sometime soon. And for those none the wiser, that’s actually why this episode’s already pretty controversial at the moment, which, again, is bullshit. Nothing too spectacular, but there were still things I really liked about it, like Volkner switching from Luxray to Electivire at the beginning in order to adsorb Pikachu’s Thunderbolt with Motor Drive, Gengar annoying Luxray, Volkner noticing Pikachu knowing Electroweb (since he didn’t during the time of their first battle), Lucario actually being important for once, and, of course, Ash and Pikachu finishing off the battle with their iconic 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt Z-Move. So, what are my thoughts about the whole battle? I thought it was pretty alright. Wowzers, didn’t think an episode like this would be controversial (even though the reasons are absolute bullshit), but here we are.
